The Jub Jub Tree (AIR) Artists in Residence Programme
The Jub Jub Tree Flower with sensory elements
AIR is a 2 way learning...
Building on the inspiring sensory storytelling work by visiting artist Amber Onat Gregory, and the performances of the Jub Jub Tree last year, a group of 4 artists are being hosted at Carson St through a special Artist in Residency(AIR) Grant (a joint initiative of the Department of Culture and the Arts and the Education Department.) The artists are Francis Italiano - writer, designer, performer. Rebecca Bradley - musician, composer, performer. Michelle Hovane - deviser, performer and Rachel Riggs - designer, director, pupeteer. Our mission is to create a magical theatrical experience for students with profound and multiple learning disabilities. We are working with 5 Carson St classes in a 12 week residency beginning in June and finishing in August this year. We started by observing the classes we would be working with and are now systematically pulling apart our performance from last year and teasing out new ways of building interactivity and engagement into the performance. At the suggestion of the school staff we are also developing some additional resources to enhance the children's experience.
